It is with lots of consideration, discussion and regret that Orofino Lumberjack Days is postponing the 73rd Annual Orofino Lumberjack Days until Sept. 2021. The group met at our first monthly meeting in March with the decision that the latest date we could meet and decide would be June, as to whether we would proceed. This is the first time in the 73 year history that Lumberjack Days has been postponed and/or canceled. Information was gathered from the medical community, the Department of Health, and in talking to other area festivities we feel that the risk is not worth proceeding this year. Our group does not want to be the ones responsible for the first case of Covid-19 to be brought here because of the fair and we don’t want that burden on our conscience. OCI understands that people want normalcy, but OCI also realizes that we cannot make everyone happy. We appreciate the individuals that have reached out to us and especially those that were kind enough to say that they know it was going to be a hard decision, but individuals also felt confident that members would weigh all the options and make the best decision.
As of today, the Clearwater County Fair is still proceeding Sept. 17-20, 2020. That means that the exhibit building and barn will still be open as normal. All the other normal activities are the responsibility of Orofino Celebrations and will not be happening.
Orofino Celebrations hopes that Covid-19 will be controlled and that the 73rd Annual Orofino Lumberjack Days will be held Sept. 16-19, 2021.
